Pearl Harbor Day

Today is the 70th anniversary of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. This is an old photo of my Grandfather, Master Chief Donald Martin, a Pearl Harbor survivor.
It's a shame that less people remember Pearl Harbor each year. My grandfather survived the attack because he was in the barracks shower when the attack hit. I can only imagine the mad panic of one minute going about a normal, mundane act as showering and the next minute all hell breaks loose.

My grandpa had a huge impact on my life. I used to follow him around everywhere. He was a great piano player and a wonderful artist. I have a Christmas book that he would paint a new holiday picture in for me every year.
I miss you, Grandpa!
